On a catamaran sailing trip with skipper in Croatia plunges you into the world of lonely turquoise anchor bays, mediterranem life feeling and antique island villages and this completely privately in the small group, far away from the human crowd and overall tourism. Whether it is bathing together, snorkeling, sailing, trips to national parks, or just relaxing on the sun deck, you can experience pure freedom from island to island and from bay to bay, without the annoying noise of the streets and far away from busy hotels.
The perfect Yacht for family and friends
Everything on aboard on a catamaran is designed to celebrate life and its intense moments of togetherness, and there are wonderful relaxation areas: a real lounge area on the stern platform, large sunbathing areas at the front or at the helm and an outstanding large sun deck. In each of the large double cabins, there is plenty of space to retreat, feel comfortable and completely relax. In the large saloon with fully equipped kitchen you can also meet to prepare your own meals and spend relaxing hours on board.
The life on board
On a catamaran sailing trip with a skipper, you are part of a team and actively participate according to your skills in the various tasks on board. In the morning you buy food at the fresh market, cook on board and keep the ship in good shape. Guests can get involved in the navigation and take the helm themselves, accompanied by their professional skipper. No sailing experience is necessary.
A typical day on a catamaran sailing trip
The morning begins with a jump into the crystal clear water in one of the countless lonely anchor bays, or a homemade tea or coffee on the foredeck. The day is always planned in such a way that there is enough time for excursions on land, swimming, snorkeling, paddling, sunbathing, relaxing and of course sailing. After about two to three hours of sailing you will usually reach the next island destination or the next anchorage where there is a lot to discover. For dinner you can go out to one of the many traditional small and family managed restaurants in the bays and the many small fishing villages, or you can cook something delicious together on board. In the evenings on land you will meet culture & people while strolling through the alleys of the picturesque ancient island towns.

Croatia, the island paradise in the heart of the Adriatic
Only one hour flight from Swiss airports is Croatia, a small typically Mediterranean country whose history has been shaped by many ancient cultures. This “ancient heart of the Adriatic” can still be felt today in the distinctive hospitality and traditional mentality of the Dalmatians. Visible in the many idyllic island towns and cities through which one strolls as if through an open-air museum of antiquity. The people are open-minded, helpful, warm and friendly. Authentic and typically Mediterranean!
Crystal clear waters, picturesque bays, species-rich national parks, impressive historical architecture and numerous islands to be explored. The country on the Adriatic Sea is multifaceted and scores with a hot climate and great travel destinations. All the same whether families with children, solo travelers, pairs, night life lovers or active holiday-makers: In Croatia each travel desire is fulfilled. Learn more about Croatia.
Three of the most popular dream islands of Croatia in the focus
The Island of Vis. Beautiful untouched nature, organic farming and the preserved traditional architecture are the unique assets of this special island. In the town of Vis itself there are remains of the olf town wall, a thermal bath, cultural and sacral buldings and an archaeological museum. Vis has always been an island of fishermens and wine enthusiasts. The village Komiža is considered to be a fishing spring on the Adriatic Sea and in the Fishing Museum they talk about these famous stories today. Until 1989 the island was a military base and not accessible for tourists. Today you can visit the army tunnel system. The Hollywood movie Mamma Mia II was shot here.
The Island of Brač. The largest island in Dalmatia, famous for its white limestone. The stone was used, for example, in the construction of Diocletian’s palace in Split, in sacral buildings in Sibenik and Trogir and even in the construction of the White House in Washington. There are various small villages and beaches to explore. A promenade leads to the long beach Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn, picture) in Bol. It is probably the most famous beach in the Adriatic Sea with its white pebbles and popular by windsurfers. There is a large number of early Christian old croats churches. West of Bol is the Dragon’s Cave with wall reliefs from the 15th century.
Hvar & Paklenski Islands. Already in ancient times the island of Hvar was an important strategic and nautical place. The name of the island comes originally from the Greek word Pharos, which means lighthouse. The Paklinski otoci are one of the most attractive and most visited places in Hvar. The archipelago consists of about 20 small islands and rocky reefs and is separated by the Paklinski Channel just in front of the town of Hvar. Among other things the archipelago is nicknamed “Hell Islands”, but in the end these islands have nothing to do with hell – it is more like a small piece of heaven on earth. Whoever has been there once, will probably always come back.
Various sailing itinerary
There are many different things to admire and explore, such as the Plitvice Lakes National Park, Krka Waterfalls National Park, the Old Town of Dubrovnik with its fortress walls, Hum – the smallest town in the world, Zlatni Rat – the Golden Horn of Bol, the Klis Fortress, the Blue Grottos on Biševo, UNESCO World Heritage Trogir with its Kamerlengo Fortress. Croatia is also the filming location for various Hollywood blockbusters, such as Mama Mia II or Game of Thrones. We recommend the following three itineraries examples for a one-week catamaran sailing trip from Trogir/ Split and back to Trogir/ Split, or an “One Way- Tour” from Trogir to Dubrovnik.
After consultation with your skipper of the catamaran sailing trip and taking into account the sailing and weather conditions, a variety of itineraries are possible, including visits to popular national parks and other breathtakingly beautiful sights.

FAQ for Sailingyachts & Catamarans
What do I take with me on a yacht trip?
What is a on- board chash desk?
At the beginning of the voyage, the on-board cash desk is set up for all running incidental expenses such as fuel, port fees and basic food on board. Each guest participates equally. The skipper will be catered for from the board cash register according to old sailor’s custom. Usual at Aktiv sailing & catamaran hollidays.
Are there additional costs to be expected?
In addition to the yacht charter price, there are the following costs if they have not been calculated in advance or are included in the offer: Food and beverages on board and ashore, rent of water sports equipment, marina, port, buoys and anchorage costs, arrival and departure to and from the yacht, fuel, entrance to national parks and nature reserves, excursions ashore such as bicycle rental or guided city tours, wages and food as well as tips for skipper & crew.
What is a daily itinerary for a catamaran sailing trip, sailing or motor yacht trip with a skipper?
On most sailing and motorboat cruises you will not depart until after breakfast, so you can start the morning with a wonderful jump into the crystal clear azure blue sea. A short walk to the village and shopping for provisions for the day. Most of the daily stages are planned in such a way that you will be anchored in a beautiful bay for a self-prepared lunch snack and you will also have enough time to enjoy the crystal clear water. On board you are part of a team and actively participate according to your abilities in the different tasks on board. On the way there will be enough time to relax and to help with the sailing. In the evening you can either anchor in bays or moor in one of the small picturesque town or nature harbours. The route can be freely arranged according to the guests’ wishes as long as the weather conditions allow it and the skipper considers it safe.
What kind of shoes do I wear on board?
In principle, every guest can wear the shoes in which it is comfortable, except shoes with heels are expressly not allowed. However, the shoes should have a white sole with no profile, otherwise they will leave dark stripes on the deck and with profile soles small stones will always be carried on board. Our recommendation is to be barefoot on the one hand and just bring two pairs of shoes with you. One to explore the land and the other to wear on board.
What is a cabin charter?
With a cabin charter you book only one or more cabins. You spend a week with other people with whom you share some common ground and joy: You love to travel and discover new things, have an affinity for classic sailing & motor yachts and simply enjoy being at sea and make new friends while enjoying the passion of yachting to the full. Travel individually but not alone. Cabin charters are usually offered on luxury cruises, but can also be booked on selected dates on catamaran sailing trips.
What is a private charter?
With a private charter, you rent the entire yacht for your family and friends to be among yourselves. Whether active to sail along on sailing yachts, catamaran or also on our luxury cruises to be spoiled all around. Perfect to celebrate anniversaries or other festivities or just to enjoy life to the fullest.
Where does the journey start?
Usually our trips in Dalmatia start in Trogir near Split. With “One – way – routes” it can be also in Dubrovnik or to another starting point.
What is a transit log?
Transitlog are the costs for the final cleaning, check in and check out, gas check, W-Lan, registration costs at the responsible port master’s or authority – crew lists, towels & bed linen…
Can I collect miles?
Yes, this is possible on sailing-, catamaran- and motor boat trips with skipper. For luxury sailing cruises with more than two crew members it is unfortunately not possible. It is also possible to arrange specific mileage cruises.
Who will be the skipper?
We offer a small but fine selection of experienced Bluetrips skippers. You can choose between Swiss skippers with a lot of experience in the sailing area of Croatia or from local Croatian skippers. Your Bluetrips-Skippers.
Who decides about the route?
With a private charter we can respond even more to the wishes of the group and try to reach all the destinations that are desired. With cabin charter there is usually a “fixed route” which is determined by the captain, of course we also try to respond to individual wishes as good as possible. It applies with each kind of the journey however: Safety first, it can occur thus that there can be plan changes because of weather situations, which the captain & Skipper decides alone.
What is a catamaran?
A catamaran is a ship with two hulls which are fixed together, so they offer a lot of space for living. Catamarans have a small draught, perfect for anchoring in turquoise waters. There is hardly any tilt when sailing.
Catamaran or sailing boat?
Who attaches more importance to sporty sailing, should rather rent a sailing yacht which has more heeling. Who prefers more space on deck and in the cabins and accepts a little weaker sailing characteristics, is better placed on a catamaran.
Activities outside the yacht?
A sailing cruise or catamaran sailing trip can be perfectly combined to explore the country, for example with rented bicycles or scooters. Go for hiking, kayaking, diving, windsurfing or simply to go shopping. Actually, almost everything is possible, activities can be optionally organized for one day or more days.
Are towels & bed linen provided?
Yes, bed linen & towels are included. Depending on the offer you have booked, the number of towels per person varies.
How is the living together with the crew or skipper?
The crew on the luxury cruises are professionally trained and are on duty when necessary and withdraw when not needed. This is also the case with our Bluetrips skippers. The crew & skippers have a separate cabin.
How are the cabins equipped?
All cabins are equipped with towels & bed linen. On luxury sailing cruises all cabins have their own en suite bathroom with hair dryers and many other accessories. They also have 220V power outlets and air conditioning and closets.
Do I tip?
In this context, there is often uncertainty, but yes, of course, in Croatia tipping is also common. In the restaurant, hotel or in the coffee bar you give approx. 10% of the invoice costs if you are satisfied. In the same way it behaves also with the cab driver or the crew and Skipper on yachts. With satisfaction it belongs to the customs approx. 10% of the charter price as tip value to appreciations.
Which route will we travel?
Starting from Trogir east to the National Park Kornati or west to Korćula and back. We also offer “One-way-trips”, which start in Trogir and end in Dubrovnik or in reverse order. Depending on the route, the most varied islands and cities are visited, such as Šibenik, Šolta, Brać, Hvar, Vis, Split Mljet, Lastovo. And many other untouched beauties of the country. Here are some itineraries samples.
Do I need a sailing license or do I need to be able to sail?
For luxury cruising, catamaran sailing trips, active sailing vacations and motoryacht with skipper you don’t need a license or sailing skills. If you would like to rent a boat or yacht without a skipper, you need a valid driver’s license and sailing skills.
